Dr. Jack Thompson, DDS

I enjoy getting to know my patients, finding out what is important to them and what they need, educating them on the state of their oral health, and then providing a variety of treatment options to them to address those needs. I work hard to provide in-office, comprehensive treatment options for your convenience.

I am a 3rd generation dentist who grew up in Gordonsville, where my father, Dr. Jack, started our dental practice in 1971 (after a 3-year tour in the Air Force). My great grandfather, Dr. Olson, practiced in Minnesota and Norfolk during the depression and World War II.

This is home for me and I’ve known many of my patients since we moved here in 1971. As a professional, I hold a body of knowledge in the public trust, and I strive to earn and hold, that trust, in service to the communities where I have lived for close to 50 years.

EDUCATION

In 1990, I graduated from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, with a B.S. in Biology. I graduated from the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry in 1997, Magma Cum Laude and recipient of one of 7 nationwide U.S. Army full Health Profession Scholarships (HPSP).

After graduating from MCV, I spent a year in the U.S. Army Advanced Education in General Dentistry program, Ft Carson, Colorado. I served overseas in Germany, Kosovo, and Iraq and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves in 2014. In 2001, I left active duty and returned to Gordonsville to work with dad and have been there (and in Palmyra!) ever since.
